Brief   Introduction

Founded in   1983, the School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) was one of the first   to offer degrees in international journalism in China. Now SJC trains   students to become bilingual media professionals, and prepares them with a   global vision to achieve quality practices in media organizations, both in   China and abroad.

The   SJC strives to provide an academically rich and rigorous education that enriches   students with a wide range of knowledge in media and communications studies,   preparing them not only for career development but also for life-long growth.   The curricula offered by SJC aim to:

Ÿdevelop students’ insight and critical   thinking

Ÿdevelop students’ observation,   analysis and communication abilities

Ÿdevelop students’ proficiency of using   media tools

Ÿdevelop students’ English language   proficiency to an advanced level


In   cooperation with Xinhua News Agency and local media in Shanghai, SJC has established the Multilingual Journalism Program,   which recruits students of foreign language majors (except English) from SISU   and other foreign language universities. The program aims to cultivate   participants with proficiency in two foreign languages as well as   international journalistic skills.
